Game Programming Resources

Reimer's Tutorials

A comprehensive collection of 2D and 3D tutorials using the XNA and DirectX frameworks.  XNA allows programmers to create games for both the PC and XBox.

Nehe

This site provides step-by-step tutorials for those interested in 3D programming.  The tutorials focus on OpenGL, but the concepts are similar to those required for DirectX programming.

GameMaker

GameMaker provides a point-and-click interface to those wanting to create computer games without the "mess" of graphics programming.  The variety of tools available and the ability to write your own code using the GML language allows you to create games from nearly any genre (including 3D based games).  GameMaker is free, but those who spend lots of time with GameMaker will want to pay for the full version.

XNA Development Website

This website provides tutorials, general information, and sprites for use in XNA game development.
